Abstract

Radio frequency identification has the potential to make significant advances in the effectiveness, efficiency, and safety of medical care by improving patient identification, promoting patient safety, and expediting access to patients' medical records. Yet, as with all new technologies, their adoption must be tempered by attention. RFID is currently being used in health care patient tracking systems, surgical equipment tracking among other applications. In this project, we are exploring ways to leverage RFID system to track medicinal adherence in Alzheimer’s patients.

In this initial study we discuss the qualification of dipole antenna as ingestible micro tag, how it is implemented in an RFID tag and put forward the observations computed from ANSYS HFSS simulation.
