How Engineers Can Prevent Metabolic Syndrome using RFID Smart Chair
Main Article Content
Abstract
Radio Frequency Identification has been used for a variety of industry purposes; from asset tracking to health care, RFID technology has an endless array of uses. While primarily used in product tracking, we apply this technology to our Smart Chair project through the use of several sensors and data transmission devices. The use of RFID as a means of relaying stored tag information is beneficial since the use of a passive tag allows for quick data access without the need of a power supply for the tag. Ultimately, alerting the user via RFID reading methods will let them know to move to a better position or perform physical activity to protect the mind and body from negative consequences such as metabolic syndrome. This prevents the user from sitting in an unhealthy body position for a significant period of time and furthermore preserves upkeep of personal health.
