Abstract

Autonomous Trucks does not require wages, no health benefits, doesn’t talk back and will always be on time. Self-automated long-haul trucking is destined to be a part of the supply chain and Operation Managers will need to be prepared. Affecting in some manner their logistics, organizations would want to understand the total cost model of either investing in self-driving trucking or utilizing trucks for shipment of their products. Self-automated trucks will affect a company’s cost and their labor. What may be seen as cost effective and efficient by some will come at a price of lost jobs from the largest and most common occupation, truck driving. Companies will re-examine their transportation mode for product delivery and their employee base.
