Abstract

City planning can be performed through many scopes, including housing, transportation, parks, land zoning and city structure 1 . According to an article on city planning in New York City, this practice integrates the planning aspects of a city such as real estate and public transportation with the economic, political and social needs of an area 2 . However, errors in these areas can cost for citizens and result in environmental health issues and community problems. These issues will vary depending on the city and environmental needs of the area. Some areas may need to work harder to maintain clear water while others face deficiencies in equitable housing. While there may be many techniques and approaches for City Planning, it is apparent that cities have differing issues that may need to be addressed in unique ways. For example, the city of London, UK has addressed issues of poor air quality in the past, as studies have shown that hazardous particles from industrial activities have impacted the health of its citizens 3 . Planning solutions to these issues may involve the modification of emissions and transportation factors in the city. However, Mexico City has a history of poor water quality around the city. This may require techniques through a different scope of city planning.
