A Study on Logistics Information Systems

Abstract

Our research paper talks about the integration of logistics and information systems in an organization. An effective implementation of Logistics Management System(LIS) helps in better decision making, reduction in inventory, effective planning to meet increased demand regarding customer requirements. In addition to this, we discuss the current state of the technology and the various tools and resources like EDI, RFID and Barcode Scanners that are being used.

Also, there are different systems in a SAP Logistics Information System and they need to be considered for the successful integration of information and data with logistics. The disruptive effects of trends, the new technologies such as Internet of Things and Virtual Logistics Team along with the new changes to make the logistics information system process easier can play a crucial factor in the logistic activities of a company. Based on the current trends, we find limitiations and short comings of those technologies and how they can affect a company or individuals despite having many positive aspects.
