Abstract

LINEAR PROGRAMMING PROBLEM A linear programming problem or linear programming can be defined as the method to obtain the optimal outcome in a mathematical model by considering the Objectives or objective function and Constraints that restrict the problem. TRANSPORTATION PROBLEM The transportation problem is defined as the type of Linear Programming Problem (LPP) which is intended to minimize the cost of distribution or Transportation of a product from different sources or origins to its intended destination.

There are 3 types of method a transportation problem can be modelled to find an optimal solution they are

➢ North-West Corner method
➢ Minimum Cost Method or Least Cost Method
➢ Vogel’s Approximation Method or VAM
